What is the PSL scale?

PSL stands for "potential subjective lookism" — a community-coined scale, originally popularized on looks-focused forums, that rates facial attractiveness from 1 to 10. Rather than a single vague impression, the PSL scale breaks a face down into measurable components like bone structure, symmetry, and skin quality, then combines them into one overall number. It's informal and subjective by nature, but it gives people a common language to talk about how facial features contribute to perceived attractiveness, and to track what actually moves the number — grooming, lighting, posture, skincare — versus what doesn't.

How this calculator works

This PSL scale calculator lets you self-rate five features that most influence perceived facial attractiveness: facial symmetry, jawline definition, canthal tilt, overall facial harmony, and skin quality. Each one is scored from 1 to 10 with a slider. Your inputs are combined into a single weighted average — symmetry and jawline carry the most weight, since they tend to drive first impressions the most, followed by harmony, with canthal tilt and skin quality weighted slightly lower. The resulting score is mapped to the same tier scale (Sub3 through GigaChad) used throughout pslify, so a manual score and an AI-rated score always mean the same thing. Everything happens in your browser; there is no photo, no upload, and nothing is sent to a server, which makes this the most privacy-friendly way to get a PSL estimate.

Manual calculator vs. the AI face rating

The honest tradeoff with any manual calculator is that it's only as accurate as your own self-perception, and most people are either too harsh or too generous when rating their own face. Our AI face rating solves that by analyzing an actual selfie instead of relying on self-reported sliders, which makes it far more consistent and harder to unconsciously bias. It still processes your photo entirely on your device and never uploads or stores it, but it measures the same underlying features — symmetry, jawline, harmony — directly from the image. If you want a quick, judgment-free ballpark, the manual calculator above is a good starting point. If you want the more accurate, objective number, try the free AI version on the homepage — it takes about 60 seconds and still requires no signup.
