Where Does "PSL" Come From?
"PSL" is a mashup of three early looksmaxxing forums: PUAhate, Sluthate, and Lookism. Those communities spent a lot of time dissecting facial aesthetics, and the rating framework that eventually took their combined initials was refined across all three. (You'll occasionally see it backronymed as "potential subjective lookism," but the forum-name origin is the version most people point to.)
The reason those communities built their own scale, instead of using a plain 1–10, comes down to inflation.
